Public Safety
Safe Streets. Strong Services. A Community That Looks Out for Each Other.
Public safety is the foundation of a strong community -- and for Jon, Seth, and Elizabeth, it’s a top priority. In Glen Rock, we’re fortunate to have dedicated police officers, brave volunteer firefighters, and an outstanding volunteer ambulance corps. We’re committed to making sure they have the tools, training, and support they need to continue protecting our town.
We also believe safety goes beyond emergency response. It’s about making sure every resident -- whether walking to school, biking to work, or crossing Rock Road -- feels safe and secure in their daily lives.
Pedestrian Safety First
From our schools to our downtown to our neighborhood parks, Glen Rock must be safe and accessible for pedestrians of all ages.
We will:
-
Prioritize sidewalk repairs, extensions, and connectivity
-
Improve crosswalk visibility and signage near schools, parks, and high-traffic areas
-
Expand traffic-calming measures in residential neighborhoods, especially for "cut through" streets
-
Work with county and state officials to improve intersections and road crossings
Supporting Our Police
Glen Rock’s police officers are essential to maintaining the safety and quality of life we value so deeply. They deserve our full support.
We will:
-
Ensure our police department has the staffing, training, and equipment it needs
-
Promote community policing and trust-building between officers and residents
-
Support mental health resources and wellness initiatives for law enforcement professionals
-
Ensure our department reflects Glen Rock’s values of fairness, transparency, and professionalism
Backing Our Volunteer Firefighters
Glen Rock’s volunteer fire department is a point of pride -- and a vital public service. We are committed to helping it thrive.
We will:
-
Continue to fund critical equipment and facility upgrades
-
Support recruitment and retention efforts for new volunteer firefighters
-
Celebrate and recognize the enormous value these volunteers bring to our community
-
Maintain open lines of communication to ensure their needs are heard and addressed
Strengthening Our Volunteer Ambulance Corps
Our volunteer ambulance corps plays a lifesaving role, responding to emergencies with professionalism and compassion.
We will:
-
Advocate for the resources and support the corps needs to operate effectively
-
Help raise awareness and appreciation for the work they do
-
Support efforts to recruit new members and keep this essential service strong
-
Ensure coordination between emergency services and Borough leadership
Planning for Safety
Public safety must be central to how we plan for development and infrastructure in Glen Rock.
We will:
-
Ensure new development doesn’t outpace our ability to provide emergency services
-
Coordinate closely with first responders on town planning and public events
-
Invest in infrastructure that supports safe living, from traffic flow to stormwater management
Glen Rock is a community that looks out for one another. Jon, Seth, and Elizabeth are committed to preserving that spirit -- by investing in the people and systems that keep us safe, and by ensuring every resident can walk, bike, live, and raise a family here with confidence and peace of mind.
