Taking A Stand Against Hate

Standing Up.  Speaking Out.  Building a Safer, Stronger Glen Rock for All.

Hatred has no home in Glen Rock.

Our community has seen a troubling rise in antisemitic incidents in recent years -- hateful graffiti, Facebook postings and rhetoric designed to intimidate and divide.  These acts are not isolated.  Across the country and right here in our town, we are witnessing an increase in hate targeting Jewish, Muslim, Black, Asian, LGBTQ+, immigrant, and other marginalized communities.

Jon, Seth, and Elizabeth believe that fighting hatred is not a passive commitment; it requires vigilance, courage and action.

Our Commitments:

1. Naming and Confronting Hate — Every Time.

We will never be silent in the face of antisemitism, Islamophobia, racism, homophobia, or any other form of bigotry. Hate speech and acts of intimidation—whether online, in our schools, in public spaces, or anywhere in our community will be swiftly and unequivocally condemned.

2. Supporting Those Targeted by Hate.
When members of our community are targeted, they deserve more than words of sympathy -- they deserve action, visibility and support.  We will work to ensure that town resources and leadership are mobilized to stand with residents who are victimized, marginalized, or made to feel unsafe.

3. Expanding Education and Prevention.
We will advocate for meaningful partnerships between the Borough, schools, houses of worship, and community groups to offer programming that fosters understanding and neighbors working together.  Education is a powerful tool against ignorance and hate, and we must invest in it at every level.

4. Zero Tolerance in Town Government.
We will support clear policies within Borough government and all associated institutions that reinforce anti-discrimination practices and prevent harassment and bias -- internally and externally.

5. Supporting Our Law Enforcement Officers.
We support strong relationships between the Borough and local, county, state and federal law enforcement to ensure hate crimes are investigated thoroughly and taken seriously.  We will also work with police leadership to ensure that our talented officers have the resources they need to combat the scourge of hate.

Why This Matter:

We live in a time where hate has grown bolder, louder, and more coordinated.  But Glen Rock’s strength lies in our unity, compassion, and shared values.  We are committed to ensuring that every single person feels safe, seen, and respected here.

Join us in this work.  Speak out.  Show up.  And vote for leadership that will never look the other way.

Jon, Seth, and Elizabeth
